Why We Exist

The UK wellness market needed a publication.

Britain's wellness shelves are louder, more contradictory, and more crowded than they have ever been. Over four hundred CBD brands sell into the UK. Nootropic stacks arrive by the week with reformulated claims. Adaptogen brands source from the same handful of Indian and Chinese suppliers and present the results as proprietary. Most of the reviews you'll find online are paid placements, written by Americans, and referencing products that aren't sold here.

The Calmer List exists because the UK market needs a publication doing this work properly. We consider products over weeks rather than days. We read the full Certificate of Analysis, not just the summary page. We cross-reference the FSA Novel Foods public register, check for standardised extract ratios on adaptogens, and look for the clinical dose on every nootropic ingredient. We cover UK brands for UK buyers, priced in sterling, reviewed under UK law.

We are not a shop. We don't own a brand or a supply chain. We earn affiliate commission when a reader buys through one of our links — that's how the publication funds itself — but we review products we hope you'll skip as often as ones we recommend. The List exists to save you time and money, not to move inventory.

We take our name seriously. The wellness category is noisy; we try not to be. We use "The List" in the literal sense: not everything makes it on. Products earn a place through the work they show, the evidence they publish, and the value they deliver — measured against the bar we have set publicly in our methodology.

Affiliate commission doesn't buy coverage

We earn commission when readers buy through our links. What that doesn't do is influence our rankings. We criticise products we earn from and recommend products we don't.

02 — Verification
Lab sheets read, not skimmed

Every product is cross-referenced against the FSA Novel Foods register and its published Certificate of Analysis. Claims without evidence don't make it past the first filter.

03 — Editorial
No brand sees the review first

Brands are not shown reviews before publication. We do not accept paid placements, sponsored rankings, or editorial suggestions from the companies we cover.

04 — Standards
A high bar for admission

We don't list everything. Products earn a place on The List only after meeting our published criteria for transparency, sourcing, lab verification, and value.
